|Last week’s ballot|
Dropped Out: Auburn (#19), Missouri (#22), Mississippi (#23).
Very few changes from the draft (added Wisconsin, dropped Utah) in a week without a lot of movement in the top 25.
Moving Up (and In): Virginia Tech’s loss to Alabama keeps looking better by the week, and I don’t think Boise State or Cincinnati deserve to be above the Hokies, so there they are at #4. Other than VT, there really is almost no major upward movement for any team. Oklahoma enters the poll again by virtue of playing probably the toughest schedule in the country outside of Miami. Notre Dame re-enters the poll because I can’t find a good reason to keep them out. Damn.
Moving Down (and Out): LSU drops to #12 after losing to Florida, which surprised no one. Their resume is still solid, though, since their only loss came to … Florida. I’m still not sold on the Bayou Bengals, but for now they’re lurking just outside the top ten. Auburn, Mizzou, and Ole Miss all drop out of the poll after losses. Ole Miss looked especially pathetic against Alabama, who really look like the best team in the country right now.
Games Watched: Nebraska-Mizzou, Ohio State-Wisconsin, Auburn-Arkansas, Michigan-Iowa
